Peggy The Goose

peggy.jpg

This winter, after Christmas a family brought a goose to Bakerwoods, no one really wanted to take her, she had been frozen in the ice and this great family rescued her, but she had a broken leg. As you all know what a push over Iam. The goose arrived in January. At first she did not even want to eat. Not being able to stand up made it hard, but a lot of dry hay under her daily and all kinds of food. She likes bread! Corn and a lot of other mixtures she finaly started to eat. I named her Peggy, because I was sure the leg would die and fall off, and she would be a peg legged goose. The best day of the winter was on Valentines day, when she stood up. She is still here in the pen, and does limp, but not bad. I will turn her loose soon. I praise God for her recovery and my answered prayers. Peggy made a complete recovery, we set her free on a Friday night and Saturday morning.. her rescuers came, she was just out swimming. So if you see a goose with a limp, say Hi! it could be Peggy. Peggy can fly! but I think she is in the upper swamp setting, she does have a lot of friends too! I think Peggy is back! Spring 2010, we have 2 pairs instead of the one pair! Lucky Peggy! It is 2012 and Peggy has been spotted more than once! I can't wait until spring and see if she raises another clutch.
